Week of 3/24-3/30 Workouts!

3/25/08: 4 Miles with my buddy Chris!
total running: 40 minutes or so...
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: warm
Notes: I ran with my good buddy Chris today. We weren't breaking any speed barriers, but it felt good to run and talk with him. Town Lake (Or Lady Bird Lake as they are referring to it now, but I refuse to call it that) had all types of folks out today getting their runs in. It was really inspiring.

Chris really inspires me too. He plans to train for his first triathlon in a few months. I can't wait to help him figure out how to get there and train properly!

3/26/08: 6 Miles/SoCo Run Club
total running: 59:06
ave. 9:51/mile
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: warm
Notes: I decided to run to SoCo Run club, then run with them, and run back home today. I live about 1.5 miles away from where we meet on S. Congress (I actually think it's closer to a mile, but there are two reallllly long lights I have to wait at...) so it's not a big deal.

The actually 5k was great as I ran with a new member, Matthew, and we basically led the 2nd pack all the way. We probably ran a 25 minute 5k. It felt great, especially considering I sprinted the last 200 yards and that is all uphill! The run home wasn't that great though, kids don't drink and run...lol.

3/27/08: 1 hour swim at the City pool!
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: warm
Notes: So I met another new friend at the Stacy pool, which is a free city pool. It was pretty crowded so we didn't get to swim much, but it was nice to get in the water again.

Week of 3/17-3/23 Workouts!

3/17/08: Neighborhood 3 Mile Jaunt
total running: 27:40
ave 9:33/mile
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: cool
Notes: Just a nice 3 mile run around the neighborhood. I'm feeling a little more confident on the hills so I am starting to push a little more...

3/18/08: Neighborhood 3 Mile Jaunt
total running: 29:10
ave 9:43/mile
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: cool
Notes: Legs felt tight today so I backed off the pace. Overall, felt good though.

3/19/08: SoCo Run Club 3 Miler!
total running: 25:52
ave 8:38/mile
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: humid but breezy
Notes: Found out about a cool little run club through one of my favorite websites ever, Craigslist, and decided to go check it out! It was so much fun! $1 tacos, $2 Lone Star 16oz's and a 5k run thrown in beforehand. How can you ever go wrong?!

Looks like I found my running club, lol... :)

3/20/08: 11 Mile Bike Ride!
total ride: 45 mins or so
ave 14.7 mph
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: overcast
Notes: Met up with a new friend and rode near my work today at a really cool place called the Veloway. It's basically the safest place to cycle in Austin. 3 miles of round and round loops where only cyclists are allowed and then a few extra miles on the roads nearby. Not a ton of cars, and cyclists pretty much rule the wide shoulders...

Anyhow, the ride kicked my butt. First of all, this is the first time I have rode my bike in a month. Secondly, I have never cycled hills, so I don't even really know how to shift gears, lol. I got a good ride in but it will be awhile before I feel confident on the roads here...

Week of 3/10-3/16 Workouts!

3/12/08: My lone 3 mile run this week:(
total running: 27:30
ave: 9:10/mile
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: cool
Notes: Ran my little 3 mile loop today. it kicked my butt but not as bad as the other day. Saw another runner putting in his miles and said a cheerful hello.

Enjoying Austin, thus far. I am finally done unpacking. This weekend is SXSW so no running but a lot of time on my feet walking around. Can't wait!

Week of 3/3-3/9 Workouts!

3/5/08: My first Austin run! 3 Hilly miles!
total running: 30 mins or so
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: cool
Notes: Well, I am finally here and doing well! Not quite unpacked yet, but that's okay, as I can get that done a little later this week...

Looked at the map real quick and mapped out a quick and 'easy' 5 miler...well, turns out that it wasn't easy at all...the first .5 mile is downhill from my house, then a mile gradual uphill, then about .5 mile that is flat, then almost an entire mile up a STEEP uphill...but I do finish the run going downhill:)

Wow, Austin is going to get me in shape...

3/7/08: 6.5 (Lost) miles near my house!
total running: 1:05
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: cool
Notes: Got lost somehow because I didn't study my map well enough. At one point, I found myself feeling into my shorts pocket for a dollar or two to ride the bus home...if I even knew WHICH bus to take home.

Somehow, I figured it out, and my run was a good 'long run,' and I actually felt okay despite the hills.

3/9/08: 4.5 Miles to Townlake and Back!
total running: 46 minutes or so
Heart-rate: n/a
Weather: breezy
Notes: I didn't get lost today, just did another run from my house, to Town Lake, and back. I don't live very far away, only 1.5 miles, so I ran a small loop of the Lake before heading back home.

Going there was fun, all downhill running....but running back wore me out (all uphill running). This is certainly a run meant for truly gruling training days only, lol....
